Week 44: Mommy Fails

November 24, 2014 By Lauren

When I got up on Tuesday morning, I realized that I hadn’t packed the boys’ lunches the night before. I quickly threw some things together, but the cupboards were a little bare, so the lunches were a little lacking, especially Samuel’s. I packed him peanut butter crackers (well, his pretend peanut butter), apple slices, and graham crackers. That was it. For two snacks and lunchtime. I know. I’m cringing just thinking about it.

Anyway, around 11:30 I got a call from the school asking if I was picking him up early. I told them I wasn’t and they told me that he didn’t have a lunch.

Oops. His lunch was so bad, they thought it was just his morning snack.

In true Oh, Honestly! form, I ran to Facebook to share my mommy fail and beg for others to share their fails with me. I was not disappointed.

Keeping It Real Mommy Fails

This week for the Keeping It Real Challenge, I thought I’d share some of my favorites. And if you can’t get enough, stop by my Facebook page to read the entire thread. It’s very entertaining and sure to make you feel better about your own moments of failure!

“Thought my oldest son was faking a broken arm to get attention because his little brother recently broke his… He wasn’t faking and we were bad parents.” -Kandi D.

“I forgot to pick my oldest up at kindergarten visit day a few years back…her future kindergarten teacher had to call me at work! Glad I knew her!” -Bethany R.

“I forgot to make her class cupcakes for her birthday last year. Fortunately Sam’s Club has a bakery department.” -Shannon W.

“Last mom to pick up… Have forgotten to pick up…more than once. That’s just a sneak peek. #weareinthistogether” -Ebony E.

“My son would take my car keys when we were in a store, because he was convinced I was going to leave him. How’s that for a great mother?” -Linda J.

And of course there was this one which holds a special place of honor because my mom wrote it about me:

“Would walking my kid dead smack into a Disney World trash can count? (one of many fails)!!” -Suzanne B.

Hey, I turned out okay, right? So there’s hope for all of our kids too!

And now the part of the post where I share pictures of our real, everyday life.

We got our Christmas tree on Saturday. IT WAS COLD.

Keeping It Real Mommy Fails

I caught Samuel dumping cupfuls of water into a bowl in the bathroom. Unfortunately, more of it ended up on the floor than in the bowl. Week 44 Mommy Fails

Have a great week and remember to keep it real!

We were running low on milk last night, instead of going to the store to get some or having them drink water, the kids had soda with their dinner. Mommy Fail.

Hey, a treat every now and then isn’t so bad, right?

I have so many mom fails that it isn’t even funny. These, however, were very funny!

Oh, this was really good timing for me to read. My poor baby tripped and dove head first into the side of our porch yesterday. He had to get some stitches. I feel just awful about the whole thing since I was standing right there.

I do love your Christmas tree picture by the way!

Aww, poor little guy! But those things happen to all of us! When Samuel was 10 months old, he managed to get 3/4 of the way up the stairs without me knowing and then, you guessed it, fell all the way to the bottom. It was awful.
